Mynd Time for Kids with Wendy Fuchs
- June 5, 2017 - June 8, 2017
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Kids are experiencing increased levels of stress and anxiety at younger and younger ages. One of the most powerful things we can do for children is to teach them:
- how the human brain works
- why our minds work the way they do
- strategies to help us experience the good and bad in our lives without getting overwhelmed
Yoga and mindfulness are effective tools that provide children with ways to examine and understand their own thoughts, feelings, and physical bodies. In this four day workshop, children will learn about the different parts and functions of their brains, explore real-life scenarios, and practice the strategies that help the mind and body find well-being and balance amidst life’s inevitable challenges.
This workshop is recommended for ages 6-11.
Wendy Fuchs, PhD has been teaching yoga and mindfulness to children for over 15 years. She discovered the benefits of yoga and mindfulness at a young age when she learned how to deal with difficult situations, powerful emotions, and circumstances outside of her control. She found an inner calm that existed even when outside environments were not so calm. Wendy considers it her life’s purpose to share these strategies with children who have minor day-to-day challenges or who may experience intense anxiety, fear, or sadness, and with children with learning/behavior challenges. She is a mother of three, a registered yoga teacher, a former classroom teacher, and a researcher and consultant for integrating mindfulness in schools.
